After a strong performance in Belgium, Renault travels with a lot of self-confidence to Monza, where they also achieved good results last year. For the time being, a fourth position is the best Renault drivers can achieve, because if nothing crazy happens, the three podium positions will be for Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen. But, you never know.

A fierce battle

However, a podium position is by no means out of the question because a great deal can happen at Monza, as Daniel Ricciardo also knows. At Motorsportweek the Australian says: "We already saw last year that one good weekend can be enough to get back in the race. It is a fierce battle at the moment and the third place in the team classification is certainly within reach", he echoed the words of teammate Ocon.

But does he have a chance of a podium finish? "I think we can certainly be competitive and that's all we can expect. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough for the podium, but we know that racing cars can be very interesting and they can surprise you both positively and negatively."

"But after last weekend we certainly need to have confidence. A podium finish is certainly the goal, but time will tell if we can make it. We will have to wait and see." So there's no lack of optimism from the former team mate of Verstappen.
