Red Bull: "Against Max everybody drops out"
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly said at the press conference afterwards that he hopes his victory at Monza will be rewarded by Red Bull Racing. In any case, this does not seem to be going to happen in the form of a return to the Milton Keynes team. Helmut Marko emphasises once again that he has no plans to return Alexander Albon.
Red Bull has no intention of turning things upside down after the 2020 season. "Those are not our plans. We want to make AlphaTauri even stronger in the future and that also means they need a strong team leader in Gasly," said Marko at Sport1 almost the same as last weekend in Italy.
The fact that Max Verstappen was not defeated this year by Alexander Albon (on his own) is of course not what a top team like Red Bull would like to see. "Against Max everybody drops out. But the criticism of Albon is not quite fair. He had a lot of bad luck this year and we also made strategic mistakes that affected his performance," the man from Graz explains.
There is still enough confidence in Albon, but Marko also knows that the performance has to improve. "We continue to believe that he can deliver the performance we demand of him when things are going optimally. And this has not been the case very often this season."
No comments on Tsunoda
So where Verstappen, Albon and Gasly will be driving next year seems to be clear. But what will happen to Daniil Kvyat? The Russian driver, who in the past needed several chances from Red Bull and then Toro Rosso, is being driven around by Gasly and so speculation about a replacement is increasing. The Red Bull-junior Yuki Tsunoda is doing very well in Formula 2 and could be promoted just like that. However, Marko does not want to respond to these rumours.
