Power Rankings: Verstappen retains second place, but Ricciardo gets closer
- GPblog.com
After every race weekend the official website of Formula 1 comes with the 'Power Rankings'. In these, a panel of five experts assesses all drivers after the Grand Prix weekend. Max Verstappen, in spite of his early abandonment, received a more than sufficient score.
His race was short-lived, but according to the experts the Red Bull driver did nothing wrong this weekend. "After Monza's disappointment Verstappen was a caged tiger, waiting to bite his way into the Mercedes-duo", reads the conclusion. "The fact that his race lasted only two turns was a disappointment for both the Dutchman and F1 fans in general. His performance is judged with a 7.6.
In the overall ranking Verstappen maintains his second place, but his former team mate is getting closer. After Lewis Hamilton (9.4) Daniel Ricciardo gets the highest rating this week, a 9.2. After a somewhat disappointing qualification in which he was disadvantaged by the spider of his team mate Ocon, he was very strong in the race. "In the end Ricciardo had to make way for both Bottas and Alex Albon - but it was a great show", the F1 experts said. This takes him from sixth to third place in the standings.
