Brawn praised: 'He is probably one of the 20 fastest drivers'

Nico Hulkenberg has already raced twice this year and if the Racing Point hadn't had technical problems during the first race at Silverstone, the German would have even raced three races. Last Sunday Hulkenberg showed once again that he belongs in Formula 1, as he sent his car to eighth place. This was after he had been out of the running for a while.

The seats for 2021 are not all filled yet, so there is a chance for Nico Hulkenberg to return to Formula 1. His performance on Sunday certainly showed his ability, which should be another reason for teams to consider him. In any case, Ross Brawn says Hulkenberg is in the top 20 fastest drivers.
"Nico keeps endorsing my admiration for him," Brawn writes in his column on F1.com. "As I’ve said before, he came close to driving for us at Mercedes - he would have been a great candidate for that. I think highly of him as a driver and this performance, with so little running before qualifying and the racing, gives me more reason to think so."
Especially this year, many cars are very close together and perform like this while not competing in the championship all the time... That's special and that brings Brawn to a clear conclusion: "To step in like that in such a competitive field as F1 is pretty special. He’s certainly a driver that deserves a place in F1, but there are only 20 seats on the grid. Everyone can see he’s probably not outside the top 20 fastest drivers right now."
