AlphaTauri announced prior to the race weekend in Imola that Pierre Gasly will stay with the Italian team in 2021. Because of the Frenchman's good performance, it looked like he would have a chance at Red Bull Racing, but in the end Gasly got a seat at AlphaTauri. According to Helmut Marko it is important that Gasly stays in the Red Bull family.

"We need a very strong driver at AlphaTauri, especially if Tsunoda is going to drive there as a newcomer. Gasly is an essential part of our philosophy and we cannot weaken AlphaTauri, especially now that there are so many good drivers on the market for the other teams," Marko explains to Auto, Motor und Sport.

What are the options for Red Bull?

According to Red Bull's advisor, Gasly is not an option for the top team and can play a major role at AlphaTauri. At the moment Red Bull has a lot of headaches about the second seat next to Max Verstappen on the team. Alexander Albon will still be with Red Bull in 2020, but seems to be anything but sure about his place in 2021.

"Albon will stay until the end of the year and then we will decide, also under the condition that there are enough strong drivers on the market. Hulkenberg and Perez are also options," Marko explains. Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Perez are both experienced drivers and also seem to be the only option for Red Bull in 2021.
