Tost believes they were not lucky: "Other teams could have done the same"

For Red Bull, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit was a race to forget quickly. Nevertheless, one of their drivers drove his best race of the season. Daniil Kvyat just missed out on a podium for a great end of the race.
With hindsight, some people might say that Kvyat was lucky with the safety car and was, therefore, able to make it to the top on new tyres. Team boss Franz Tost of AlphaTauri, however, refuses to go along with that. Both Kvyat and the team delivered a top performance in his eyes.
Kvyat deserves praise for fourth place
"We were not lucky, we took the right decision because all the other teams could have done the same," said Tost to Autosport.com. "Some of them did it, some not. And we did it, and we got something out of it, three places at the end because he was seventh and afterwards he was fourth."
However, the fact that this worked out so well also had to do with some very nice overtaking by his Russian driver. "He overtook Perez, Leclerc and Albon, and finished on the fourth position, just behind Ricciardo. And [with] more laps to go I think he could have had a good chance also to overtake him. Daniil was very good. He likes this. track, he was very happy with the car, and he showed a real, real good performance."
