Verstappen: “I’m now enjoying second or third place”

Max Verstappen seems more satisfied this year than in the past when he manages to get a podium finish for Red Bull Racing. The Dutchman knows his place, but can see that his team is getting closer and closer to Mercedes.
Where in the past Verstappen might have reacted in a frustrated way if he had failed to finishout or if he had not been able to challenge for the victory, Verstappen seems to be a lot calmer in 2020.
''You don't want to remain frustrated and try to achieve results that are not achievable. I try to get the maximum out of what is possible with the car and that is the same every weekend. We know we are not fighting for the title this year. Soon it was no longer possible. I'm now enjoying a second or third place," said Verstappen at the press conference.
''Finally a little closer to Mercedes on Imola. We were within a few tenths and then you're really motivated to stay with them and catch up. Normally you know they're driving away from you and there's nothing you can do about it in the middle of nowhere. That feels a bit like a third wheel on the car. It's a bit like a dinner where you're sitting with them. I'd rather have a romantic dinner myself," concluded Verstappen.
