Villeneuve critical of Verstappen in Turkey
- GPblog.com
Jacques Villeneuve is well known for his critical statements. Last weekend he predicted Verstappen as the favourite for the victory in Turkey, but after the race Villeneuve had nothing but criticism for Verstappen, as well as for Charles Leclerc.
In his early years Max Verstappen had to suffer a lot, when Villeneuve regularly said that he was promoted to Formula 1 too young. However, he came back to these statements later, and last weekend he even predicted a victory for Verstappen.
Too aggressive and too eager
Villeneuve, however, saw the Max Verstappen of his early years in the race again. "Verstappen seems to have become calmer and more mature for a few years now. He drives like a champion. Yesterday, however, we saw the Max Verstappen of his debut season again," he said to Sky Italia.
He continued: "He was far too aggressive and made the same mistakes he made in his early years in Formula One. Both he and Charles Leclerc were too aggressive and especially too eager; they pushed too much at the wrong moments. Max and Charles lacked some experience compared to the experienced drivers on the podium."
