The current number two in the F2 Championship Callum Ilott will test for Alfa Romeo during the Abu Dhabi tests in winter. The 22 year old driver will make his comeback during the test days. In 2019 in Barcelona, Ilott also tested for the team.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the car," says Ilott in an Alfa Romeo press release. "I am very grateful to Alfa Romeo and the Ferrari program for this opportunity. It is important to grow my experience. Not just behind the wheel, but also with the work within the team".

Ilott deserves a return after his previously planned practice session at this year's Eifel GP did not take place. Team boss Fred Vasseur is positive: "Callum is one of the most promising young drivers at the moment, as you can see from his F2 results.

The chances of Ilott claiming one of the few empty seats left seem slim, but this news does put the young Brit back in the spotlight. The Ferrari customers with free seats will keep an eye on him.
