Marko: "That is why we brought Tsunoda to Europe"

Yuki Tsunoda will be driving in Formula 1 for Alpha Tauri next season. Given his connection to Honda it is not a surprising development, which Helmut Marko must concur with in the Kronen Zeitung. Together with Masashi Yamamoto he discussed the most talented drivers Honda had under their care years ago.
"He gave me a list with three names and their CVs. Tsunoda's name jumped out and that's why we brought him to Europe," said Marko, who was immediately convinced after the first test of the Japanese in a Formula 3 car.
The sharp edges are off at Tsunoda
Marko admits that Tsunoda was a little too eager in his first season in Formula 3, but according to the Austrian he quickly learned that. Now he is a smart driver who strikes at the right moment. The last race in Formula 2 on the short circuit of Bahrain is an excellent example of this.
Tsunoda even dropped out of the points after the start, but thanks to patience and some nice overtaking he still came second. Something that also struck Marko. "His speed is great, he is intelligent and he has an outspoken character. This makes him an asset to Formula 1."
