Vettel praises Leclerc as the fastest teammate he's ever had

The time of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari has not become what he had hoped for. Especially last season, his last one with the team, was difficult for him. Next year, however, he will have new opportunities at Aston Martin .
Beaten by Charles Leclerc
This year Vettel usually had to play second fiddle to his teammate Charles Leclerc. Vettel reflected on the performances of his Monegasque teammate and he believes Leclerc is the fastest teammate he's ever had
"Charles is the fastest teammate I have ever had and a man of the future. I hope Ferrari can build him the car he deserves," he told Auto, Motor und Sport .
While Leclerc felt good with the updates to the car during the season, the opposite was the case for Vettel. Aside from the fact that the drivers had different requirements, they were also at different stages of their careers.
"His goal was different. He was looking at the next race, I was looking at the next month and the next year," said Vettel.
New opportunities with Aston Martin
In 2021 Vettel makes the switch to Aston Martin. Technical director Andy Green is looking forward to the arrival of the German and thinks he will do well in a new environment, where his feedback will be listened to in the development of the car.
"Everyone knows how good Sebastian is," said Green.
"You have to have the right car and the right people around you. We can give him what he needs to get back to the level we know and expect from him.
"The fact that a multiple world champion gets into our car is valuable to the people who work here. A year and a half ago we went bankrupt, we shouldn't exist anymore. And now someone like Vettel wants to drive for us. Together we are going to gain new experiences and ideas about the development of the car."
