Williams: "Hopefully it'll have quite a big effect for the teams at the sharp end"

Williams is hopeful that the new rules on the floor of the car for 2021 will help the team move further up the grid. The floor is one of the few places on the car that will change in 2021.
Williams has been in heavy weather for a long time and the 2020 season was the worst season ever in terms of points. For the first time since 1977, when the team was on the grid for the first time, the team did not score any points in a season. This while the 2020 car was a lot more competitive than the 2019 car.
One of the most difficult areas on the car
The British team is making some progress and hopes to continue this through the changes to the floor for the New Year. "It is a major change to the floor, particularly that area close to the rear tyre," says head of car performance Dave Robson according to Motorsport.com.
"It is an area where we suspect we're not class leader, let's say, so hopefully for us it's less of a hit than some of those other teams. I think it is traditionally a very difficult area to understand, particularly how the floor will react to the tyre as it deforms and ages and wears," Robson continued.
