Nikita Mazepin has come under heavy fire in recent weeks and petitions have even been launched to get him out of Formula 1. For the time being, however, Haas is holding on to the Russian, who is not really impressed by the criticism.

Mazepin came in negative news prior to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The newly announced driver of Haas had touched a woman in the car on a video on Instagram. In hindsight they both said it was never meant to be, but later reports from the woman showed that she might not have given her own opinion at all.

Mazepin not impressed

In the meantime, Haas had taken care of things internally, with the Russian 'just' coming into action for the team in 2021. The American race stable was not happy with Mazepin's action, but did not respond to the petition or the hashtag #WeSayNoToMazepin. It's not the first time Mazepin recieved bad press, because in the past he also hit out at Callum Ilott after a collision in free practice and is known for his wild actions on the track.

''There are certain reasons that have nothing to do with racing that treat me differently. I'm used to that criticism and that doesn't interest me anymore,'' Mazepin is clear according to Speedweek.com. The Russian is preparing for a Formula 1 debut alongside Mick Schumacher, to whom he will have a heavy jaw.
