Abiteboul no longer a part of F1: 'Thanks for the trust in me all these years'

Following the management changes announced for the new Renault F1 team, it was already clear that Cyril Abiteboul would have a different role at the new Alpine team. However, it was announced on Monday afternoon that the Frenchman will be leaving the team as a whole in 2021. Abiteboul says goodbye.
With the new road that Renault will take in 2021, the necessary changes in management will go ahead. Abiteboul will no longer be team boss. Now that that spot has been given to Laurent Rossi,who takes over as CEO.
In a press statement, the Frenchman says of his farewell to the team: "I would like to thank the Groupe Renault for having trusted me for many years, particularly with the relaunch and reconstruction of the team since 2016."
Abiteboul says goodbye gratefully
"The solid foundations of the racing team and the entities in France and England built over these years, the strategic evolution of the sport towards a more economically sustainable model, and more recently the Alpine project which provides a renewed sense of meaning and dynamism, all point to a very fine trajectory," Abiteboul concludes.
