The second Formula E race in Diriyah ended behind the safety car on Saturday after Alex Lynn crashed heavily. New footage has since emerged of the accident, which fortunately left the driver in good shape.
Heavy crash for Alex Lynn
Lynn's car crashed between the wall and Evans' car during a battle with Mitch Evans, launching the front end and knocking it over. The car continued to slide upside down for many metres before finally hitting the barrier.
Evans immediately stopped his car in an attempt to help his colleague, who was taken unconscious to hospital. It has since been announced that Lynn is doing well. Evans also escaped unscathed.
New footage of the crash has also been released. The FIA may have withheld these images pending reports on Lynn's health. These are the first images that show what happened.
We are thankful that Alex Lynn is well after this accident. Testament to the medical staff, marshals and the @FIA who keep our sport safe. 🙌 to Mitch Evans who abandoned his race to run to Alex’s aid. #ABBFormulaE #DiriyahEPrix @alexlynnracing @mitchevans_ pic.twitter.com/hp7FTNYR8w
