Gasly unhappy after Bahrain: "We missed out on good points"
- GPblog.com
A number of people experienced a Grand Prix to forget on Sunday. Pierre Gasly is one of them. The Frenchman qualified in an impressive fifth place, but threw away his points early in the race.
Damage at start ended race for Gasly
After the safety car caused by Nikita Mazepin, the track was fairly chaotic. Gasly entered turn five and was clearly not paying attention. The AlphaTauri driver tapped the rear of Daniel Ricciardo and lost his front wing. After that, the one-time race winner drove around the back of the field for the rest of the race.
"We had the pace to fight with McLaren and Ferrari", Gasly is quoted by Motorsport-Total.com. "I was really looking forward to it, but I was practically a minute behind the rest of the field and had a car with damage. We missed out on good points and I'm really bummed about it."
Race to forget soon
In the end, Gasly didn't even see the finish flag, as he was brought in by his team four laps before the end and dropped out of the race. "The race really sucked", he concluded.
