In Red Bull Racing's latest Talking Bull podcast, team principal Christian Horner explained the current mindset of his star racer Max Verstappen. For example, the Brit knows Max is confident in the RBR16B, and explains how the Dutchman reacted to the track limits debacle in Bahrain.

"He was very supporting about that," Horner begun with on Talking Bull, when asked about Verstappen's reaction after the race and now infamous team order in Bahrain.“Obviously he was frustrated to have lost the race, he knew he got the advantage. He got a bit upset when he saw the amount of abuse that there had been earlier in the race with those track limits.”

Looking ahead

However, Horner immediately nuanced, arguing that, given Red Bull's current form, the battle for the title is far from over. “But, you know, that;s racing, that’s the way it is. We lost on that day but we’re taking away confidence that we’ve got a good car, a great engine behind us this year. We’re looking forward to the challenges of the next 22 races."

Verstappen's mindset also reflects that same attitude, Horner argued. “I think it’s the first time we got off to a really good start, pre-season testing was strong for us, he dominated every session, the qualifying, the only thing he was second in was unfortunately the race. But I think it bodes well for the season ahead, and we know going up against quality opponents the likes of Mercedes. We’re gonna have an enormous battle on our hands taking the fight to them.”
