Marko: "If Audi comes knocking, we'll evaluate the partnership"

Red Bull Racing's current idea is to build their own engines from 2025 onwards. But should Audi be interested in a partnership, it's certainly an option to evaluate says advisor Helmut Marko.
Maybe no Red Bull engines after all
Red Bull has always been a customer team. It has used engines from Cosworth, Ferrari, Renault and Honda during their time in Formula 1. However, the co-operation with Honda is a lot closer, as the Japanese manufacturer does not have a factory team in Formula 1. Honda is stepping out of Formula 1 after 2021, but because being a semi-factory team has worked out well, Red Bull wants to build its own engines from 2025 onwards.
"Our plan is to build our own engine by 2025," Marko told ServusTV. But those plans are not yet 100 per cent certain. "If Audi comes knocking in the meantime, we will see if a cooperation is possible," the Austrian added.
Rumors Volkswagen Group have been circulating for some time
Audi is part of the Volkswagen Group and there have been rumours for some time that they are interested in Formula 1. Besides Audi there are also rumours that Red Bull has already held talks with Porsche, from the same Volkswagen Group.
