Ricciardo may get new chassis in Baku

Daniel Ricciardo had a hard time in Monaco last weekend. His performance was disappointing at the very circuit where he normally performs so well. In both the race and qualifying he finished twelfth. On top of that he was lapped by team mate Lando Norris.
Difficulty in the McLaren
Ricciardo clearly hasn't found his feet with the McLaren ML35 M. While Lando Norris is third in the championship with 56 points, Ricciardo only has 24 points and an eighth place in the championship. However, things were not as bad as they were in Monaco this season and the team would even like to replace the entire chassis of the McLaren before Baku.
Ricciardo has yet to confirm this, but certainly isn't putting all the pressure on his team. "I'm sure the team will control everything, but I also question myself," Ricciardo told the Italian outlet of Motorsport.com. "Maybe I haven't fully understood the car yet, but when the margins are so big it's really hard to find a solution. I will do my bit, but at the moment I am convinced that the best thing is to draw a line under what we have done so far and start again from Baku."
Relationship with the racing world
Despite the difficult period Ricciardo is currently having at McLaren, he is confident that things will work out again. "My relationship with the racing world has always been one of hair-raising love. Some days this sport is the thing I enjoy most in the world, some days I have no answers. Who knows, maybe we'll go to Baku, I'll get on the track for the first practice and I'll be back in the positions I want to be in."
