Bottas throws away his glove in frustration
- GPblog.com
Valtteri Bottas was able to trump Lewis Hamilton last Sunday. The Finn was driving in second position, while the seven-time champion was further down the field. On Monaco's street circuit, overtaking is very difficult, so without any special events, the Grand Prix quickly turned into a parade. A safe second place for Bottas, but he didn't make it to the finish. This because of a nut that did not come loose during a pit stop.
Driving on is not an option
During his stop it appeared that the nut of his right front wheel was broken. The rim was impossible to remove and driving on was not an option. On the one hand the tyre would fail sooner or later and on the other hand the regulations state that tyre sets cannot be used at the same time. To his frustration Bottas had to give up during the race, while he was on the podium.
The Finn got out of the car, but there were not many images shown during the live coverage afterwards. Until now, because a new clip has surfaced in which an obviously very frustrated Bottas can be seen throwing away his glove after getting out of the car. It's a short clip, watch it below.
