Horner calls for new Mercedes front wing tests: 'Is much more sensitive'
- GPblog.com
With the new tests aimed at limiting the flexibility of the rear wing the FIA hoped to put an end to the flexwing discussion that has raged between Christian Horner and Toto Wolff for several race weekends. The Red Bull team boss isn't going to give in and is now asking the FIA again to change the regulations on Mercedes' flexible front wing.
Horner begins his argument as follows, in conversation with the interviewers at Sky Sports: "As I also mentioned a few races ago, if it applies to the rear why doesn’t it apply to the front?"
Horner continued, arguing why Mercedes' flexible front wing has a greater impact on performance than the Red Bull rear wing. Horner: "The FIA have introduced a new test to the rear, so we assume at some point they will do the same to the front of the car. As we all know, the front of the car is even more sensitive than the rear."
FIA decisive
"That’s very much with the FIA, and they introduced these tests, so we’ll see where they go", said the Red Bull team boss.
