Hamilton has Championship concerns: "Those guys are just too quick now"
Lewis Hamilton ran a long stint on the hard tyre, but didn't have enough grip left at the end to stay ahead of Max Verstappen's fresher medium tyre. Verstappen extends his lead to 12 points in the World Championship, adding pressure to Mercedes.
Hamilton managed to come second. "There are lots of positives to take from today. So I'm not seeing it as a tough day," Hamilton told Sky Sports. "I did everything I could out there today and didn't really make any mistakes and generally happy with the position and results."
Looking ahead
Red Bull Racing have now won three consecutive races in the hybrid era for the first time. The next two race weekends take place on the Red Bull ring where Hamilton believes the Austrian team will be strong.
"It would've been nice to win, but those guys are just too quick now. They've taken a big step this weekend, we're losing 0.350 just on the straights. We need to work out if it's straight line or engine. We've got to improve. We're going to the next two tracks where straight-line speed is important so it's going to be tough," Hamilton added.
