Red Bull Racing is doing very well this year. They are leading the Constructors' Championship and Max Verstappen is leading the Drivers' Championship. The next two races will be in familiar territory, as they will take place in Spielberg. A circuit that generally suits Red Bull, but in the meantime there is a war going on behind the scenes with Mercedes.

Relaxed atmosphere

On Austrian channel ServusTV, team advisor Helmut Marko was asked a few things about the upcoming races and the discussions with Mercedes. This shows that Red Bull is comfortably looking forward to the upcoming two races. Marko says, quoted by Speedweek.com : "The atmosphere is relaxed and we are looking forward to the home Grand Prix. It's always something special and motivates again."

"We have always done well at Spielberg in the past. For some reason, the Honda turbo has always performed better here than the Mercedes one. We are looking forward to the weekends positively. Maybe we'll have five in a row soon," Marko said, referring to the team's run of three Grand Prix wins in a row.

New target

So much for the positive news, because as already mentioned there is a regulatory battle with Mercedes. The team of Hamilton and Bottas seem to be nitpicking over all sorts of regulatory details, with Toto Wolff also looking at Christian Horner. On that, Marko is brief: "Toto is now throwing himself at Christian Horner, previously I had the honour."

In a way, Mercedes' behaviour also shows that they can't handle a situation where they are not in overall control very well. In contrast, Red Bull are only too proud of the current situation: "We are a team where passion comes first. Now we manage to break the dominance of Mercedes, which was given by the engine."
