Pierre Gasly was unable to take part in the second free practice session. The Frenchman had problems, causing him to stand still for the entire hour and watch the mechanics work on his car. Honda Technical Director Toyoharu Tanabe gives an update on the situation as quoted by AS-web.

"We had to interrupt the second free practice because of the abnormal data. In the first free practice he was the second fastest overall and we were going to try different things to improve that, but it didn't work out. I'm very sorry for Guthrie and the team."

AlphaTauri made a fine impression during that first free practice anyway.

Gasly's problem

But what exactly was Gasly's problem? "It was the electrical system," said Tanabe. "We're still confirming it, so we can't say for sure yet. We are already using a second battery and other electrical parts. On the other hand, we are using the second ICE and MGU-H since the last lap."

Gasly will be hoping during the third free practice that the problems have been fixed and that he can just compete for a place in the top ten. The speed of the car seems to be up to the task.
