Honda doesn't believe Wolff: 'A top team doesn't do that'

Red Bull Racing and Mercedes are still in a battle for the world title in 2021. Toto Wolff has stated that Mercedes have stopped developing their car, but like Christiam Horner, Masashi Yamamoto doesn't believe those statements either.
In 2021, it is very important for teams to find the right balance. In 2021 performance still needs to be sustained, but there are also completely new regulations ready for 2022. It is a lot for the teams have to manage under the watchful eye of the budget cap. Mercedes therefore have suggested they will stop developing the 2021 car, but the Managing Director of Honda doesn't believe that.
Mercedes won't stop developing
''I have the same opinion as Christian (Horner). I don't think Mercedes will do that. They say they are looking at next year, but he doesn't need to have everyone focused on 2022 with so many staff. I think they will continue to develop in this season, and have another group working on 2022. I don't think a top team can just switch,'' Yamamoto said to as-web.jp.
According to Yamamoto, it's also all still close, and so next weekend's race in Austria is not a done deal. ''I'm looking forward to it. (Sergio) Perez was unlucky with his fourth place. Next week the tyres will be softer, and we will work hard with the team to continue this flow and have another good race," concluded Yamamoto.
