Wolff slightly optimistic: 'But Max will be in a class of his own'

Last week one Red Bull was already too fast for Mercedes, but during the second qualifying session at the Red Bull Ring it became even two. Toto Wolff, therefore, thinks his team has made a snapshot with the strategy.
Many expected Max Verstappen to dominate during the second qualifying session in Austria. The Dutchman did, but he was not the only one to drive past the Mercedes cars. Now Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have to start the race from P4 and P5 respectively and the Finn is also facing a penalty.
Team boss Toto Wolff is therefore not satisfied and thinks a mistake was made during qualifying. "I don't think we did a good job with the slipstream. The out lap was bad, then we had to brake and then we had no slipstream anymore," the Austrian told ORF.
Optimistic for the race
Despite Mercedes not looking good for Sunday, Wolff remains mildly hopeful and thinks he can catch at least one Red Bull. "Max will probably be a class act, but hopefully we can crack Perez to limit the damage," the team boss concludes with.
