Red Bull replaces Verstappen's brakes, precaution after fire in sprintrace?
- GPblog.com
It was a striking sight just before the start of the sprint qualifying session, the brakes of Max Verstappen on fire. Luckily for the Dutchman, Red Bull Racing's car suffered no damage from the small fire, but it now appears that Red Bull did replace the brakes in preparation for the big Grand Prix.
The FIA has revealed that a striking number of parts were replaced after sprint qualifying. This was expected prior to the weekend and the teams made good use of it. It is important to note that all parts replaced were of the same specification and therefore fall within the Parc Ferme regulations.
Perez's brakes have also been replaced
Verstappen had his front brakes replaced on both sides. Perez had the same parts replaced as well, but because he also has new parts on his car he will start from the pitlane. Mercedes also has new front brakes, although the changes are not as big as those of Verstappen.
Also at the rest of the grid, a lot of parts have been replaced, a lot of brakes have been replaced, Aston Martin has replaced the clutch on both drivers and Lance Stroll has a different engine in his back than in the sprint race.
