"If it was anyone but Verstappen, Hamilton wouldn't have made that move"

Many have already expressed their opinions on the contact that took place between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone, and the terrible crash that followed. Similar incidents are more common in the IndyCar class, with championship leader Álex Palou shining his light on the moment.
The 24-year-old Spaniard can empathise with both drivers. "Hamilton's move was aggressive because Verstappen was his opponent," he says in an interview with Motorsport.com. "If it was anyone else, it wouldn't have happened. It happened because they are fighting for the championship."
Palou can put himself in both Verstappen and Hamilton's shoes
"I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. I do know that in Verstappen's place I would not make it easy for Hamilton. But if I was Hamilton I would go for it too. I would probably do what they both did in their place," continued the Chip Ganassi Racing driver.
"Of course, in hindsight it's easy to say that Verstappen would have been better off letting him go by. But you can't just let someone overtake you when you're racing," he continued. According to him, it mainly comes down to instinct, because drivers have to take decisions in a split second. "So my advice is to keep racing the way you have been doing so far, because so far it has worked well for you," Palou said.
