Sergio Pérez hopes to perform during the Hungarian Grand Prix after his disappointing 16th place finish at Silverstone. With a good race from Pérez and disappointments for Lando Norris and Valtteri Bottas, the driver could even finish the race in third place in the world championship. Moreover, that would bring him a lot closer to a contract extension.

Helmut Marko has already indicated that Red Bull Racing hopes to maintain the current driver line-up, but it is imperative that performance is maintained. The last few races from Perez were less than desired.

Perez expects clarity within a month

Speaking about a possible extension to his contract with the Milton Keynes based team, the experienced Mexican told Formule1.nl."The earlier you are sure about your future, the better. But I'm not worried for now, everything is going well with the team. In Belgium I think I have certainty about my future, so I see no reason to look elsewhere."

If Perez does not perform well, Pierre Gasly will be ready to take his place next to Max Verstappen in 2022. The driver of AlphaTauri is ready for it, but knows that he is dependent on a lot of external factors.
