The second free practice didn't go as planned for Red Bull Racing. Max Verstappen complained several times on the team radio about the understeer of the car. The Dutchman had to settle for third place.

"We suddenly had huge understeer in the second free practice, which we didn't know where it came from," Helmut Marko told German RTL after the practice. Verstappen was clearly not satisfied and could not set a faster time than Mercedes.

Car modifications had no result

"We still don't know where it comes from. Now we have to check everything to see if the work we did caused this understeer. And the adjustments we did, the car didn't respond to that," Marko said.

Verstappen came in for minor adjustments to the front wing midway through the second practice session, but Marko confirmed that the adjustments did not work. Fortunately, Verstappen's crash engine was working properly, which was a bit of a wait and see after the hard crash at Silverstone two weeks ago. Red Bull's team still have some work to do before tomorrow's qualifying to iron out the problems.
