Villeneuve criticises Ferrari: 'They have made a big mess of it in the past'

Jacques Villeneuve believes there's currently a poor policy being employed by Ferrari. The Canadian, like us all, has seen some important figures leave the team from Maranello in recent years, because Ferrari simply prefer to employ native Italians. Furthermore Villeneuve doesn't really understand why Ferrari is neglecting the 2021 season.
"They have made a big mess of it in the past by focusing everything on 2022 and nothing on this year," Villeneuve said in an interview with Libero Quotidiano.
Italians at Ferrari
"First they wanted to be an Italian team, then they changed their mind. The best men were sent away, and some of them now work for Mercedes. What they pay on the track is the result of choices made five years ago." Lorenzo Sassi is one such example of that.
Villeneuve is not the first to criticise Ferrari either. According to Gerhard Berger, himself a former Ferrari driver, it is impossible in today's Formula 1 to want to win as an Italian team made up only of Italians.
