It's a question that is on many people's minds in the paddock at the moment. Will Sergio Perez have to give victory away to teammate Max Verstappen if he leads in Mexico? Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko doesn't think it will come to such an extreme.
Perez may have to give up home victory
Perez is in good form and has finished on the podium in the last two races. In Mexico, he hopes to stunt in front of his home crowd by giving the Mexican fans a victory. Perez might have in mind that his teammate Verstappen is fighting for the world title.
Marko explained in a conversation with RTL Germany that he doesn't think it will come to this extreme case. "But it is clear that with this number of points everything must happen so that Max can get the optimal number of points." The Austrian rules out a team order over the radio that everyone can hear: "There are more elegant solutions."
Battle for the Championship
Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are in a fierce battle for the world title. Currently the advantage lies with Verstappen who has a twelve point lead with five Grands Prix to go.
