Alexander Albon will return to
Formula 1 next season. The Thai will be in action for
Williams and is therefore busy preparing for the new season. He met
Jenson Button, among others, as he explains in conversation with
Speedweek.com.
Where he made his debut for Toro Rosso in 2019, just a few months later he received the offer to make the switch to
Red Bull Racing. There he could replace
Pierre Gasly who did not live up to expectations and decided to accept the challenge. In the year and a half that followed, however, he too disappointed.
Therefore, at the end of 2020, he left
Formula 1 and had to hope that there would be a new team that was interested in him. That possibility came to pass for Albon, because after
George Russell left for Mercedes,
Williams decided to contact the Thai driver and offer him a contract.
Albon took on Button
During the preparations for the new season he could be found at the Los Angeles karting track, where Button was also. "It helps that you are mentally ready to race again, you physically get back into the rhythm before it gets serious," Albon explained the purpose of karting. "Jenson was obviously a good competitor as well. He's as fast as you would expect him to be and it was fun to race with him."
