Fernando Alonso will be aiming for the final part of qualifying in Bahrain when it gets underway at 4pm BST today.
Both Alonso and team mate Stoffel Vandoorne missed out on Q3 last time out, agonisingly finishing 11th and 12th in Q2 at Albert Park.
However, they bounced back in the race to record a double points finish in Melbourne, and Alonso is hoping for a higher grid slot in Bahrain to help him fight for more points this weekend.
Alonso has won three times in Bahrain, but his best finish since his 2010 win is eighth place, so he will be hoping to improve his recent form at the circuit to add to his 10 points from Australia.
Alonso told the media: “Our aim for qualifying is to be in Q3 – a target we missed in Australia.
“We need to deliver and do a perfect lap, so that we can beat some of the cars in front of us.
“There’s a little bit more to extract from the car and hopefully we’ll do that (in qualifying).”
