McLaren's
Fernando Alonso has expressed his confidence in his team after finishing eleventh in qualifying, with the Spaniard thinking there are possibilities to move up the field in tomorrow's race.
"Yeah it's good, it's okay," Alonso immediately said on the team radio with a content voice when he was informed that he ended on P11. Fortunately for the two-time world champion, Bottas parked his car sideways in a wall and needed a gearbox-change, causing Alonso to move up to tenth.
McLaren had ambitions to be best of the rest after the Big Three of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, but both Haas and Renault cars made into Q3 ahead of the papaya-orange cars. Still, Alonso is happy with his car, and the way things are progressing.
"We've shown that we got pace, especially in the third practice session."
"We're getting a lot of upgrades from this point on, and we were between seventh and twelveth in Q1 and Q2."
"That's a good starting position for us to develop from."
Alonso, masterfully skilled as soon as raindrops start falling from the sky, hopes that it'll rain on Sunday.
"When it rains we can focus more on attacking and worry less about defending," the Asturian said.
"We'll see if it will rain, but I'll welcome it for sure."
