Fernando Alonso will test all day on Friday, just as Max Verstappen did on Thursday. For Test Day 2 of the 2023 F1 winter tests, Felipe Drugovich is on standby.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll suffered a wrist injury while cycling just before the start of winter testing in Bahrain and was therefore unable to take part in the F1 winter tests. Reserve driver Drugovich took over for him on the first day of testing in the morning, but the Brazilian drove few laps.

Alonso takes full second day of testing

The-Race.com reports that for the second day of testing, Drugovich will only be on standby. That means Alonso will take on both sessions of the day. This will give Alonso immediate preparation for his first season with the team. During his first test session, the Spaniard already nearly drove the fastest time. He fell just short of Max Verstappen.

That Drugovich will drive on Saturday is not out of the question. Meanwhile, Aston Martin is facing a problem that needs to be solved quickly. If Stroll cannot drive next week, a replacement must be found. The team is not sharing much with the press. The medium does know that besides Drugovich, Stoffel Vandoorne is also an option to replace the Canadian. It might be more advisable to let Drugovich, who is on the spot, prepare for a substitution. Possibly, the substitute may do so all day Saturday.
