Fernando Alonso has remained cryptic about his future in motorsport and F1 beyond the current 2018 season. The Spaniard has been open about his desire to win the triple crown, and he would need an Indy 500 win and Le Mans victory to complete the feat.
Alonso was forced to retire from his 300th grand prix, a hugely disappointing end to his race after starting positively but afterwards, Alonso had shifted his focus to 24 hours of Le Mans.
“From tomorrow it’s another experience there. Hopefully, a good race for us, we are also leading the World Endurance Championship after the race in Spa.
“We are definitely focused on that right now after the retirement of today.”
When asked if he would be competing in F1 and at the Canadian Grand Prix for 2019, he responded:
“We’ll see. I hope so.
“We definitely need to find more performance in the car.
“We need to find the way to become also competitive and reliability is also important – we saw at the beginning of the year how many points we scored.
“We lost points in the last two races, a few areas in the car we need to keep improving and let’s see what will happen in the next couple of months.”
