Mick Schumacher may have only been crowned European
Formula 3 champion this year, but he’s already being talked up as a future
Ferrari driver.
These links were inevitable given his father’s long career with the Scuderia and former
Ferrari driver, Gerard Berger talked up the possibility of Mick signing in the near future.
"Mick Schumacher will be at Ferrari in two years. But I do not know yet if he will drive the motorhome or the F1...” Joked Berger at the Golden Helm awards.
The German enjoyed a successful 2018, especially in the second part of the season winning seven out of 12 races which led to rival Dan Ticktum casting doubt over his success.
In 2019 Schumacher Jr will step up to
Formula 2 with the Prema Powerteam and he has already been testing in Abu Dhabi gaining respectable results.
“Seriously, Michael's son in the second part of the season has impressed me.
“They say he went strong because he had the best material, but I saw him winning in the wet too, And has the opportunity to grow in F.2. Obviously everyone's dream is that in a couple of years he can sit behind the wheel of his father's car."
