Charles Leclerc was well on his way to victory at the
French Grand Prix when he crashed out of the race. Although
Mattia Binotto is disappointed with the incident, he remains confident in the driver's abilities.
The
Ferrari team boss saw Leclerc take victory a fortnight ago in Austria, but last weekend the Monegasque was less in form. After his mistake in France he was pretty critical of himself. Binotto believes this is unfair, he told
Formula 1.nl and others
."I don't agree with it. We have lost a lot of points in other ways and we will take points again in other ways," Binotto stated. "Charles is a champion. Nobody in the team will doubt him. We trust him. There are still ten races to go. We have to try to win them."
Backlog on Verstappen increased
After
Max Verstappen 's victory, the gap in the world championship is no less than 63 points, so Leclerc will have to work hard to make up for that. This weekend a GP in Hungary is scheduled, after which the summer break begins.
