Not Max Verstappen, but Charles Leclerc was booed by Mexican Formula 1 fans after the Mexican Grand Prix. Fans of Sergio Perez pointed to the Ferrari driver as the culprit for 'their' Checo being out at the very first corner. Leclerc tried in vain to give his side of the story after the F1 race.

Leclerc explains under loud booing from Perez fans

Leclerc was booed so loudly by the crowd that his interview was difficult to understand. The 26-year-old Monegasque tried in vain to explain that he had nowhere to go and that he did not intentionally throw the crowd favourite out of the race.

"Guys, I had nowhere to go," the third-finishing Leclerc told the crowd after the race. "I was a bit in between the Red Bulls and unfortunately I touched Checo. It's life. I damaged my car and unfortunately it ended the race of Checo."

He continued: "On our end, we maximised our race. Of course, I'm disappointed to end the race of Checo like that but I really didn't do it on purpose and had nowhere to go. We struggled a bit with the hard after the restart. Lewis was really quick on the medium and they managed to have really good degradation."
