Mick Krack will be the new team boss of Aston Martin as of March 1, 2022. The 49-year-old Luxembourger is very eager to take on the role, drawing comparisons with the soccer industry in conversation with Formula 1's official website.
Krack will have the challenge of succeeding Otmar Szafnauer at Aston Martin. Last season, the team with Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll still performed satisfactorily in the World Championship. Where Vettel finished in twelfth place in the rankings, his teammate did not get further than a thirteenth position.
The new team boss notices that many people would like to work in Formula 1, he says in the interview. "I think Formula 1 is like the Champions League and every professional football player wants to play Champions League," Krack explained. "It's the same for motorsport, [whether you’re] an engineer or driver. So, from that point of view, it’s the ultimate place to be."
Earlier in the day, Krack revealed that he wants to do everything he can to keep Vettel tied to the racing stable for longer. The German is still making a sharp impression in Formula 1 and looks to be good enough to compete at a high level in the coming years.
