Antonio Felix da Costa has won the Portland E-Prix after a late error from Nick Cassidy opened the door to victory. Robin Frijns finished second at the Formula E race in Portland. Cassidy was leading on the penultimate lap when the Jaguar TCS Racing driver made a mistake at turn 11.
A late, dramatic twist happened at the end. At first, Nick Cassidy appeared to be in contention for victory, grabbing the lead with four laps to go. But a moment of inattention meant the New Zealander took too much kerb into a corner, dropping back to 19th. Da Costa gratefully took the win.
Mitch Evans incidentally crossed the finish line first, but did not win because of a five-second penalty. He fell back to P8. So thanks to Evans' penalty and Cassidy's mistake, da Costa won and Frijns and Jean-Éric Vergne finished on the podium.
Da Costa now has three wins out the last four races. Cassidy's mistake saw him lose the race and lose ground in the Championship standings. His lead from second-placed Wehrlein has been cut to 24 points, while Evans sits a further three points back in third. Round 14 of season 10 continues in Portland. There are then just two rounds remaining in the sesason, both taking place in London.
