Toto Wolff caused a stir with a cynical remark to
Max Verstappen after he recorded a record-breaking tenth consecutive win at Monza.
Formula 1 world champion
Damon Hill was unapologetic about the Mercedes team boss's words, he revealed to
Sky Sports. Never before has a
Formula 1 driver won as many as 10 races in a row.
Max Verstappen did it at Monza. The Dutchman thus broke the record of
Sebastian Vettel, who once managed to bag nine Grands Prix in a row for Red Bull. Mercedes team boss
Toto Wolff reacted somewhat cynically to the two-time world champion's feat, stating in conversation with
Sky Sports that it is
"only for Wikipedia, which nobody reads anyway."
'Verstappen is special'
Hill was unapologetic about Wolff's remark. "
It was a bit churlish, not very gracious, and unlike Toto Wolff, because he is usually very sporting," the Briton stated. "
They seem to be a bit stymied and can't seem to work out what to do, but who can?," the 1996 champion said of the German racing stable, which has yet to claim a victory this season. The former
Williams driver thinks Red Bull can win all the races this season. "
They've won 14 races this year and it's an incredible record, but you can't just put it down to the car. This guy is special."
