Daniel Ricciardo misses racing. The good-humoured Australian is currently Red Bull's reserve driver. The multiple race winner certainly sees positives to his current side role, but hopes to get into a car soon, he indicated at a Formula One fan meeting.

The former McLaren driver has plenty to do during the weekends. "I am kind of doing everything. Normally the race weekens are so busy, that by time you are in the car you feel knackered. I don't have to worry about that for the moment." Ricciardo derives satisfaction from his role at Red Bull: "I try to keep learning; how the team is and how the car works."

'Matter of time until I can't take it anymore'

The man from Perth misses racing, but can still handle his supporting role: "I don't feel 'done', that I will be on the sidelines for the rest of my life," says Verstappen's former teammate. "It's okay now, I'm also learning a little bit from watching from a far. But it is a matter of time until I am not okay with it." The driver has a plan B: "If I never get to race again, I'm going to play in the NFL. Quarterback baby, let's go."
