For days now,
Lewis Hamilton's transfer from
Mercedes to
Ferrari has dominated the headlines. Even
Stefano Domenicali - team boss of the Scuderia from 2008 to 2014 - is happy that the most successful driver in
Formula 1 history will try his luck in red.
As CEO of
Formula 1, Domenicali is currently looking after the interests of the sport. For Formula 1, a transition of the most popular driver to the most popular team is a godsend.
"It's certainly very interesting news, which has had an extraordinary response, not only in Italy, but also around the world," Domenicali stated in a video, which he recorded himself for
Sportmediaset.
Earlier,
Helmut Marko (external advisor to
Red Bull Racing) had similar words recorded. The Austrian called the British driver's transition "the best thing that can happen to Formula 1 at the moment". Yet Marko and Domenicali will have to be patient: Hamilton will first spend a season at Mercedes.
