Daniel Ricciardo is disappointing at
McLaren and that has been brought out by team boss
Zak Brown. Although Ricciardo said to have thick skin, his crash today during VT2 in Monaco must hurt a lot. At least, that's what
Robert Doornbos thinks.
Doornbos fears the end for Ricciardo
Ricciardo joined the
McLaren team that was on the up and up. Whereas the Australian managed to grab podiums with
Renault in the previous year, at McLaren he was a big fluke once, but otherwise, he was very disappointing. Especially compared to his teammate
Lando Norris, the eight-time GP winner paled in some weekends. Team boss Brown said he had expected more from working with Ricciardo.
That the McLaren driver was the only one to crash hard during VT2 and write off his McLaren in Monaco does not help his future at the team. At the Ziggo Race Café former F1 driver and analyst Doornbos says: "This is so bad for him in terms of timing. Crashing is never good, of course, but the whole weekend has been about his team boss and Ricciardo, what is said in the press; it's a bit disappointing. But of course that's just the way it is."
