GPblog's Driver of the Day award for the British Grand Prix goes to Lando Norris. As always, GPblog asked the users to vote for their best Driver from the Grand Prix. Like the official Formula 1 version, the vote didn't go to race winner Max Verstappen, but Norris.
Norris had a home race that he'll never be able to forget. Equipped with McLaren upgrades, Norris produced a stunning lap to secure P2 on the grid. His teammate Oscar Piastri was right behind in P3. Norris got off the line better than pole-sitter Verstappen and even led the British Grand Prix for four laps. Norris couldn't defend against the powerful DRS on the Red Bull car, but he created some drama at the start.
At the safety car restart, McLaren placed Norris on the hard tyres, whereas Lewis Hamilton had soft tyres on behind. Despite this tyre performance differential, Norris successfully defended against an attacking Hamilton to hold out for P2. Therefore, it's no surprise to see Norris pick up 42% of the vote. Pole-sitter and race winner Verstappen came second, with 26% of the vote. Piastri made the podium of the driver of the day vote with 17% of the vote.
Hamilton secured 8% of the vote, with smaller amounts awarded to George Russell, Sergio Perez, Alex Albon and Fernando Alonso. Yuki Tsunoda picked up one vote, perhaps for beating his teammate again.
