After designer
Adrian Newey was announced as
Aston Martin's latest signing this week, the possibility of
Max Verstappen also going to
Aston Martin was suddenly rumoured. Red Bull advisor
Helmut Marko previously explained that the Dutchman is keen to drive for a team that can become world champions. At
Oe24, Marko takes a closer look at the Silverstone-based team.
Does Marko see himself at Aston Martin?
The Austrian outlet asked a subtle question to find out whether the 81-year-old might see himself at Aston Martin. When asked how Marko would feel if he got an Aston Martin company car again (by working there), he responded: “I have to say: the Aston Martin was a nice car, but that is not the decisive factor for me."
Verstappen to Aston Martin?
Otherwise, there are some rumours here and there that Verstappen might drive at Aston Martin in the future, partly because Newey is currently there. Red Bull's advisor highly doubts this. "I have no idea where that came from. Believe me: at the moment, Max is only thinking about winning the world championship," he said.
The three-time world champion had already been approached by Mercedes and team boss
Toto Wolff this season, but in vain. It became clear that Verstappen was going to stay with Red Bull for a while longer. Still, Marko does think it makes sense for leaders of other teams to try.
"Any sensible team boss should be interested in Max. And he always wants to be in the car in which he can become world champion," the Austrian concluded.
