Formula 1 facing trademark battle over its logo

Formula One and Liberty Media may have to pace a fee to Post-It-Notes and 3M, following an alleged trademark breach.
F1's logo has two lines running next to each other in order to show the waving corner during the race and then followed by a straight line.
The first part of the logo allegedly has extreme similarities to 3M for their 'Futuro' range of clothing.
3M applied for the trademark of its logo in February 2017, beating F1 by nine months and claim there is a 'likelihood of confusion' with the designs.
Liberty Media bought Formula One back at the start of last year and the logo was revealed in Abu Dhabi last year.
European Court of Justice's Advocate General released a statement back in 2008 saying:
"Trademarks are protected by a basic rule which prevents the registration or use of a sign identical or similar to a registered trademark, for goods or services identical or similar to those for which the mark is registered."
If the logo is forced to be changed, it could mean a financial hit on Liberty Media and slight embarrassment.
However, the financial state shouldn't be too dented with the American company turning over $31.7 billion of revenue.
