The final free practice session has concluded, and drivers will now switch their attention to qualifying for the 2023
Hungarian Grand Prix. The track conditions improved rapidly towards the end of the session due to the heat and rubber laid. A number of drivers spent time at the top, but
Lewis Hamilton finished in P1.
Sergio Perez closed the gap to
Max Verstappen.
The practice sessions haven't produced the best indication for the meaningful sessions because of the new tyre format. It means teams have done more running on one set of compound than normal. For example,
Verstappen didn't impress on the leaderboard, but his
long-run pace was very impressive. FP3 seemed to suggest that there is work to do for
Ferrari, whilst
McLaren and Mercedes look closest to Red Bull.
Lando Norris' fastest lap was on the medium tyre. Alfa Romeo are ahead of their usual finish positions.
